Exciting development at The Parasol Cooperative: Sandy Skelaney, who has been a vital part of our team as the Head of Partnerships, is now stepping into the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO) while continuing her work in partnerships. This dual role marks a significant moment for our organization, reflecting our commitment to both strategic growth and deepening our impact.
A Leader with a Passion for Collaboration and Safety
Sandy’s journey with The Parasol Cooperative has been marked by her exceptional ability to build and nurture partnerships that align with our mission. Her efforts have helped expand our reach, bringing in new collaborations that have amplified our impact in protecting those at risk from domestic violence, human trafficking, and tech-facilitated abuse.
Sandy’s impressive track record in innovation and building multidisciplinary care systems for child trafficking survivors brings deep expertise in victim advocacy to Parasol. As an early anti-trafficking pioneer, she has witnessed the rise of emerging technology as both a tool for exploitation and a means of assistance, driving her to become a vocal advocate for digital safety. As a result, she is blockchain forensic certified and is pursuing a doctorate in public affairs, focusing on tech ethics, AI risk, and cybersecurity.
Sandy’s trauma-informed approach and her skill in making complex concepts accessible have empowered countless individuals to navigate the digital landscape with greater confidence and security. As she takes on the COO role, Sandy will continue to lead our partnerships while also driving the operations of our organization. Her leadership will be crucial as we look to innovate and grow, ensuring that our products and services remain at the forefront of safety and usability.
A Heartfelt Farewell to Lise-Marie
We also want to express our deepest gratitude to Lise-Marie, who has been a pillar of strength and guidance as our COO since our inception in 2020. As a founding team member, Lise-Marie's leadership has been instrumental in steering The Parasol Cooperative through significant milestones and challenges. Her dedication to our mission, as both a survivor and now an LCSW, has laid a strong foundation for Sandy to build upon.
As Lise-Marie steps down, we are thankful for her contributions and the legacy she leaves behind. We wish her the very best in her future endeavors and know that her impact will continue to resonate within our organization as she continues her work in different ways, independently serving survivors.
Looking Ahead
With Sandy Skelaney now serving as both Head of Partnerships and COO, we are excited about the future of The Parasol Cooperative. We are confident that her leadership in these dual roles will bring fresh perspectives, innovative solutions, and new opportunities for growth. Together, we will continue to provide safe, secure, and easy-to-use digital solutions that protect lives and empower survivors.
